Texas Toast Sloppy



°1 lb lean ground beef
°½ C. Chopped onion
°¼ C. Chopped green pepper
°1 cup ketchup
°½ C. Water
°1 tbsp. brown sugar
°2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
°1 C. yellow mustard
°½ tsp. garlic powder
°6 tranches Texas toast
°12 slices of American cottage cheese


Heat grill to high heat.
Placing ground beef, onion also peppers in skillet on medium-high heat. Sauté until the meat is browned and the vegetables are tender. Drain off any excess fat.
Reduce heat on stove to low, add ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard and garlic powder. Stir to combine and sauté for 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Placing Texas toast on baking sheet & toast under broiler to golden brown.
Top each slice of toast with a slice of American cheese and place the baking sheet under the broiler for 30 seconds.
Add an equal portion of the meat mixture on top of each piece of toast, then add another slice of American cheese.
Return the baking sheet to the broiler until the cheese is melted.
