2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup butter, melted

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

1/4 cup melted butter

1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)


Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter, milk, and brown sugar.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

Spread the batter into the prepared pan.

In a small bowl, mix together the 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon and melted butter.

Sprinkle the cinnamon-butter mixture over the batter. Sprinkle with the chopped pecans, if using.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
