AMISH BAKED CUSTARD

An easy Amish custard recipe that will make you feel like you're at Grandma's again. Soft and creamy, made with only 6 ingredients.

My husband is super, absolutely in love with me right now. Comfort food is definitely one of her love languages and I've been hitting all

the buttons lately. Homemade eggnog? He was in a creamy Christmas paradise.

Now an old-fashioned custard recipe? This probably ranks higher than this particular eggnog.

This simple sweet custard recipe is one of the old desserts Matt grew up with. He remembers his grandmother making a vanilla custard recipe, so my goal was to make an easy egg custard, fairly close to what his grandmother had. Because we all know grandma's food is the best food.

*ingredients:

°1 can (14 ounces) sweet condensed milk

°4 cups hot water

°6 eggs

°2 teaspoons vanilla extract

°1/4 teaspoon salt

°Nutmeg to decorate

* Methods :

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Mixing condensed milk and hot water in glass or metal bowl.

In o bowl, whisking eggs until they are light in color & fluffy to touch. Pour the hot milk mixture into eggs until they have softened, then mix them well. Adding vanilla and salt. Pour into bowls and place on a high-sided baking tray. Or using 2-quart baking dish instead.

Placing tray in oven and fill half an inch water. Baking for 1 h or to a knife comes out clean in center. If using larger baking dish, bake for 1 h & 40 mn.

Leave the pastry cream to cool for an hour. Sprinkling with nutmeg and serve hot or chilled to serving chilled.

Enjoy !
