*preparation :

Put the head of cabbage in a pot of boiling water, peel the cabbage leaves one by one.

Cut off the rough end of the cabbage leaf with a sharp knife.

Mix all the ingredients together except a 15 oz can of tomato sauce and crushed tomatoes and place a small amount (sausage size) on a cabbage leaf, roll it up like a fajita and place seam side down in a pan . I put tomato sauce and a cabbage leaf or 2 in the bottom of the casserole dish so the halupke doesn't burn.

Pour the tomato puree over the Halupkys.

Cover and cook for about 75 minutes at 375°F.

Turn the oven to 325 degrees and bake for another 90 minutes, until the cabbage is tender. Soak every hour.

Served with tomato sauce.
