We look forward to my mom's cheesy sausage casserole that she makes every year for Christmas morning. Everyone loves it because it's so tasty! For a variation in taste, try using sage sausage and croutons instead of bread.


Casserole for Christmas Morning

You may save time on Christmas morning by making this Christmas Breakfast Casserole the night before; all you have to do is pop it in the oven and enjoy!


All-Star Recipe (with 6 Servings)


1 pound of ground sausage

teaspoon of mustard powder


approximately half a teaspoon of kosher salt


Beat four big eggs.


the amount of whole milk—two cups


6 pieces of toasted, cubed white bread


1 cup of shredded mild Cheddar cheese


Instructions for Making a Holiday Breakfast Casserole


Coat a medium skillet with crumbled sausage.


Brown evenly over medium heat; remove from pan.


Combine the mustard powder, salt, eggs, and milk in a medium-sized basin.


Toss in the bread pieces, sausage, and cheese, being sure to mix everything

 equally.


Transfer to a greased baking dish that measures 9 by 13 inches.


Place in the fridge, covered, for at least 8 hours, or all night.


Turn the oven on high heat (350 degrees).


Tent with foil and bake for forty-five to sixty minutes.


Bring the temperature down to 325 degrees and uncover.


For a final 30 minutes in the oven, or until the filling is firm.
