°2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

°2 tablespoons of white sugar

°(2) egg yolks

°½ cup of milk

°½ teaspoon of salt

°1 cup shortening

°(2) egg whites

°(9) apple – peeled, cored and sliced

°¾ cup white sugar

°½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

°1 ½ cups icing sugar

°(1 pinch of salt

°1 teaspoon vanilla extract

°3 tablespoons of milk

Preheat oven to approximately 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch pan.

Combine flour, 2 tablespoons sugar and salt in a medium bowl. Chop the shortening until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add and mix egg yolks and 1/2 cup milk; stir into flour mixture.

Roll half the dough on a lightly floured surface to the size of the prepared pan. Cover the inside of the mold with the dough. Then spread a light layer of egg white. Garnish with apple slices and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top. Roll out the rest of the dough and place it over the apples. Brush with a light layer of egg white.

In a preheated oven, bake for 35-40 minutes until the crust is golden brown. Beat icing sugar, salt, vanilla and milk in a small bowl until smooth. Drizzle over cooled bars and cut into squares.

Enjoy !
