1/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup vegetable shortening

2 eggs

1/4 cup milk

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and milk together.

Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until the dough comes together.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for a few minutes.

Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness.

Cut the dough into strips, then twist each strip and form into a ring.

In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fry the crullers in the hot oil for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.

Drain the crullers on paper towels.

Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
