Classic Pound Cake Recipe

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup whole milk

Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.

In a large bowl, beat the butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until creamy and smooth.

Add the sugar and continue to beat until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.

Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each is fully incorporated before adding the next.

Mix in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture in three additions, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Slice and serve as desired. Enjoy!
