Old Fashion Sour Cream Doughnuts

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

2 large eggs

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup whole milk

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Vegetable oil for frying

For the Glaze:

2 cups powdered sugar

1/4 cup whole milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, sour cream, milk, and melted butter.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently until it comes together in a ball.

Roll the dough out to a 1/2-inch thickness and use a donut cutter to cut out donuts. Alternatively, use a 3-inch and a 1-inch round cookie cutter to cut out the donuts and holes.

Heat vegetable oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.

Fry the donuts in the hot oil for about 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Transfer the donuts to a paper towel-lined plate to drain off any excess oil.

To make the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Dip the cooled donuts into the glaze, turning to coat both sides, and place on a wire rack to set.

Serve and enjoy!
